Privacy and Cookie Policy

1. Introduction

At Odette’s Jewellery, we value your privacy. We handle your personal data with care and ensure it is always processed in accordance with the law (GDPR). In this document, you can read what data we collect, why we collect it, and what rights you have.

2. What data do we collect?

When you visit our webshop or place an order, we may process the following data:

Name and address
Email address and telephone number
Payment information (via our payment providers)
Order and delivery information
IP address and information about your use of our website (via cookies)

3. How do we use your data?

We only use your personal data when necessary, and always on a legal basis according to the GDPR.

Orders and Delivery
To properly process and deliver your order, we need your data. This is part of the execution of the agreement you enter into with us when you place an order.

Payments and Administration
For secure payments, we work with external payment providers. In addition, we are legally required to retain certain data, such as invoice information, for seven years for the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration.

Customer Service and Contact
When you contact us, we use your data to handle your question or request. We do this because it is part of our agreement with you, or based on our legitimate interest in providing you with the best possible service.

Newsletter and Marketing
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we use your email address to send you updates and offers. This is only done with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time via the unsubscribe link.

Website Analysis and Improvement
We want to continuously improve our webshop. Therefore, we use cookies and, if you consent, analysis tools such as Google Analytics. These give us insight into how visitors use our website.

4. With Whom Do We Share Your Data?

We only share your data with parties that help us provide our services. This includes:

Payment providers (such as Mollie or PayPal)
Delivery services (such as PostNL or DHL)
IT and hosting partners that enable our webshop
Marketing or analysis tools (such as Google Analytics), but only if you have given permission

We have agreements with these parties to properly protect your data. Your data will never be sold to third parties.

5. Transfer outside the EU

Some of our service providers (such as Google or Mailchimp) may process data outside the European Union. In that case, we ensure that this only happens with appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

6. Retention Periods

We will not retain your data longer than necessary:

Order and invoice data: 7 years (required by the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration)
Customer and contact details: as long as necessary for our services or until you request deletion
Newsletter data: until you unsubscribe

7. Your Rights

Under the GDPR, you have several rights:

You may always request access to the data we hold about you.
You can ask us to correct inaccurate data or delete data.
You can object to the use of your data or withdraw your consent (for example, for the newsletter).
You can ask us to transfer your data to another party (data portability).

If you wish to exercise any of these rights, please send us a message using the contact details at the bottom of this policy.

8. Security

We do everything we can to protect your data. We use both technical measures (such as secure connections) and organizational measures to ensure that your data is not lost or falls into the wrong hands.

9. Cookies
What are cookies?

Cookies are small files that are placed on your device when you visit our website. They ensure the website works properly and help us understand how it’s used.

Which cookies do we use?

Functional cookies: these are necessary for the website to function properly, for example, to remember your shopping cart.
Analytical cookies: these allow us to measure, often anonymously, how visitors use the website. This allows us to improve the webshop.
Marketing cookies: these allow us to show you personalized offers, for example, via social media or Google. We only place these cookies if you have given permission.
When you first visit our website, we will ask you for your preferences via a cookie banner. You can always change your choice later via your browser settings.
